All kinds of faith

By

This blog entry is a bit vulnerable. I know many have walked through incredible stories of personal healing from Jesus. I’m one of them. When I think of all the healing that He’s done in my life, I get weepy(i literally can’t help this) with gratitude. He’s so faithful, so kind.

But somehow, I find myself challenged recently with faith for healing, even despite the miraculous in my own life. And this faith for healing, is now for others, not just me, that I know and love.

My husband has Polycystic Kidney Disease(PKD) and I knew this before I even started dating him, that I needed to trust Jesus regardless. I realized quickly that I was falling in love with a man, who i wanted to spend the rest of my life with, who could potentially be bedridden from PKD. I said yes to dating (my now) husband not knowing how Jesus would heal him. But I prayed He would. That month my (now) husband started an incredible medication that basically halts all progression of the disease. I had only a mustard seed amount of faith, yet God came through anyways.

I share this to counter the lie that you need “big faith” for God to heal. I think sometimes, just because He sovereignly loves us that He chooses to show this love by acting on it, and heals us.

The second testimony I want to share is the one I’m currently in, but I recently heard someone speak on healing faith in a way that encouraged me to write this. He said, Jesus healed people with all kinds of faith.

I wont do this teacher justice in summarizing, but I’ll try 🙂

Jesus healed in response to the great faith of centurion. But Jesus also healed in response to the man who in desperation declared, “I believe, Lord, help my unbelief!”. Jesus healed again in response to a desperate moment in a woman’s life as she pressed through the crowd to find her healing by simply touching the hem of Jesus robe. Jesus raised Lazareth from the dead after 3 days of mourning friends and family formed a crowd. They didn’t believe. Yet Jesus healed him. Jesus healed a man who in response to meeting Jesus asked, “Lord, if you’re willing”…as if the very Son of God sent to heal the world wouldn’t be. But Jesus, instead of being offended, states calmly, “I am willing” and heals this man anyways.

When I let this all sink in, I was amazed at just how many times Jesus healed DESPITE the faith of the healed. Almost every time, really.

As I sit here at the end of a week of spending time in clinics and hospitals for my daughter, I’m encouraged to think on this truth: “Jesus heals in response to all kinds of faith.”

My two children may have the same genetic disease (on paper) as their father, PKD, but God. I’m convinced that even though I’m doubting, even though I’m prepared for the long haul that this disease is, I have hope. Jesus can heal my family in response to whatever level of faith I’m currently at. He can even use my ‘mustard seed’ faith to move this mountain in front of us.

For this, I keep my heart fixed on Jesus, the one who will heal in response to any level of faith.
